About This Project

Technical construction was successful in being awarded this opportunity as principal contractor by Liverpool John Lennon Airport to build their new covered walkway from the terminal building past stands 51 to 53 on the airside apron the scheme was awarded on a design and build contract, the scheme required in-depth consultation with all the airport airside operations stake holders for months before the scheme actually started.

All our operatives had to pass all the security check to qualify for the required passes and some had to get airside driving licences to escort materials across the busy airport with our own vehicles.

The covered walkway was made from aluminium frame and toughened glass to the sides with a polycarbonate roof, the walkway is divided down the middle with a glass partition with domestic passengers in one and international in the other ensuring passenger segregation between domestic & international and has two entrances via new automatic doors in to the separate customs channels. The walkway is a 140 meters long and protected on the apron side by Armco road barrier.

Technical Construction are delighted that the first thing that visitors coming to Liverpool experience is walking through the covered walkway which we installed.
